In his Revolutionary War pension application he stated that he was born 16 or 17 August 1765 in Prince William County, Virginia and that his father died before he was born and his mother soon after. He enlisted 15 October 1776 and served three years with the Georgia Troops against the Indians.

Thomas Cassady was appointed Constable for two year terms in Tazewell County, Virginia in 1812, 1814, 1816, 1818, 1826 and 1827. 186
