General:
Mar. Record #2, s/o R. & J. (Richard and Jane Harris Fain Info. on this family from Barbra A. Donahue (pollyd@swvcc.wvnet.edu), April 1998, who stated that she was descended from James M. Fain, s/o Daniel. That Daniel first married Sarah Handy in Patrick Co. and migrated to Mercer Co., WV, then to Pike Co., KY and Mingo Co., WV. From there his family went to Hocking Co., OH. Sons John C. and Richard Henry b. abt 1844 remained in Ohio.

Barbara received info. from Thomas Fain who stated that Henry R. married Sarah Thompson in 1870 in Lawrence, OH, with Ulysses who in 1900 turned up with an e on the end of the name, in Crawfrod Co., OH, mar. Myrtle Sprow, had Harold, Glen and Charles. Lawrence Co. is next door to Hocking Co. where John C. was in 1880 and Portsmouth is in Lawrence Co. Barbara's mother remembers her aunt "Belle" Fain Hockenheimer who lived in Portsmoth, OH. She also stated there was a Richard Fain born about 1875 in Wayne Co., WV, s/o William, s/o Daniel and Martha. 12
