General:
John M. Johnson , and educator/land owner, served as Superintendent of the Martin count Schools for 20 Years He retired in 1950. Died Saturday in the Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital. He was a mamber of the Lovely United Baptist Church. Also a teacher and Principal and in his later years a researcher of land titles, one of his first jobs was as a taker of the 1910 census. personable and well-liked, Mr. Johnson always considered his greater wealth to be his friends.

Born Nov 10 1889, deceased Nov 18, 1972 at age 83. He was the son of the late U. G. and Cynthia Clay Johnson. Surviors include wife, Wilda, two daughters, Goldie Brammer and Irene Jude of Columbus, Ohio; three sons, John M. Jr. and Curtis H. of Columbus and Ronald L. of Beauty, KY.; four brothers, Wilson Evans, Lovely, KY., Trinnel Chafins, Columbus, Kenny Chafins, of Naugatuck, W. VA. and Paul Johnson of Warfield, KY.; four sisters, Emma Horne, Oppy Preece and Gladys Preece of Inez, KY and Victoria Spears of Columbus, Ohio, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mere words can never express our sadness of his passing, we loved him so dearly. We are so thankful he was prepared to meet God.
