Samuel P Stafford, the son of John and Levisa Spratt Stafford was born in Logan County (before Mingo County was formed).

Immediately following the wedding, the young couple acquired a 350 acre tract O of land bordering the Guyandotte River, near the town of Justice, WV. John Wesley Stafford, a bother, built two room log house on the property purchased for one thousand dollars. This included the surface and mineral and timber rights.

The Stafford home still stands at Justice. I had the privilege of taking my grandparents Kenny and Susie Browning to visit his cousins who still lived there at the time. I have since gone back to show my son Jason the old homestead. (per Barbara J. Browning bef 1999) 14
