OBIT: The Martin Countian, July 20, 1988: Sam Horn: Sam Horn, age 90, of Inez, KY, passed away on 13 Jul 1988 at home following a long illness. Mr. Horn was born on 14 Jul 1897 in Wayne County, WV. He worked for the gas company, owned and operated Horn and Son's Sawmill and retired from Horn's Grocery, a business he owned and operated for 47 years.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Horn and Elizabeth (McCannon) Horn, his wife Dixie Mae Hammonds Horn, two sons, Samuel Horn, Jr. and Oliver Horn, one sister, Minnie Jane Horn, one twin brother, McKinley Horn, one granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Horn Goble.
Mr. Horn is survived by four children, Riley Horn; Emile Jean Horn of Inez, Burgess Horn of Huntington, WV and Wallace Horn of Columbus, OH. Other survivors include three brothers, Virgil, Marion and Sanford; three sisters; Thelma Napier, Rosa Haney and Ida James, all of Inez. Sam had 17 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Burial followed in the Horn Cemetery on Turkey. 12
